Facility Information

The first thing you will notice about the Florin Creek Recreation Center is its distinctive design: a graceful Polynesian-inspired building with a sweeping roofline and stunningly landscaped elevated front entrance. The building dominates Florin Creek Park, which delivers stunning views from the center’s windows and doors. The unique visuals continue once inside, with ample natural light from the center’s high windows. Step out onto the center’s balcony and you will observe the grassy amphitheater area below – a picturesque spot for weddings or performances.

The main activity room at the center accommodates up to 150 guests and has a banquet capacity of 120. A smaller meeting room accommodates 20 guests and may be used as a dressing room or green room. A small kitchen and audio-visual capabilities round out the Center’s features.

Florin Creek Recreation Center was Southgate Recreation & Park District’s first large-scale recreation facility project, constructed in 1972, but updated over the years and significantly remodeled in 2009. The center, like the park area surrounding it, reflects the name of the adjacent Florin Creek waterway.
