Park Information

Norman S. Waters Park is a quintessential neighborhood park, maximizing its impact in a tidy footprint. With two separate playgrounds and an area for blacktop games, it is a great spot for children to go outside, get active and be creative. Field games and softball areas provide additional sporting opportunities.

Norman S. Waters Park was named for former California State Assemblyman Norman “Norm” Waters. Waters was elected in 1976 to the California Assembly’s 7th District, which included the Southgate area. Waters was integral to state discussions about agriculture and natural resources during his 14 years in office, and in 1983 Waters authored legislation to appropriate funds for the park from State Bond monies.
